The Park Tool CC-2 Chain Wear Indicator is a professional-grade mechanical tool designed to quickly and accurately measure the precise percentage of stretch and wear in a bicycle chain. Unlike fixed drop-in gauges, the CC-2 features an adjustable swing-arm design that measures a continuous scale of wear from 0.25% to 1.0%, allowing you to track exactly how fast your drivetrain is wearing out over time.

Technical Capabilities & Compatibility

• Universal Derailleur Checking: Fully compatible with virtually all multi-speed derailleur chains, ranging from standard 5-speed up to modern 12-speed systems (including Shimano® XTR® 12-speed setups).
• Continuous Measurement Display: Features a fine, laser-etched scale window that tells you the exact progressive wear percentage rather than just a simple "go/no-go" indicator.
• Critical Component Exception: While highly versatile, the CC-2 should not be used on SRAM® Flattop™ (Road AXS) or SRAM® T-Type transmission chains. For these specific geometries, Park Tool recommends using their drop-in Park Tool CC-4 or CC-4.2 models to prevent false wear readings.

When to Replace Your Chain

To prevent shifting degradation and avoid ruining expensive cassettes or chainrings, replace your chain according to the following wear readings:

• 11 and 12-Speed Chains: Replace at or just before 0.5% wear.
• 5 to 10-Speed Chains: Replace at or just before 0.75% wear.
• Single-Speed / Internal Hub Chains: Replace at or just before 1.0% wear.
